MUSIC: TSG’s NEW // NOW // NEXT
Every month I’m going to offer up opinions on the latest tunes the world wide web has to offer in a feature we’re calling New/Now/Next. This week is dedicated to the GROUPS; We have a Grime 3 piece hailing from North London and a twosome who've already excited many a music fan- all this as well as a band who recently had their debut album go straight to number one.
New: Marvel
If number ones were made from hard work, content and general polished packageness (yes I did just invent a word), then Marvell would surely be well on the way to running Rihanna out the record books. Its hard to believe that these three dudes, hailing from North London are not household names akin to the likes of Wretch 32 and Tinie Tempah. Formed in 2009 and with 5 mix tapes already under their belt these boys have really put in the work and their 2 million plus views on Youtube confirm this. For some reason I can't find any reference to a label on any of their content, which only leads me to believe that the stupid A & R men currently employed at the majors haven't offered up enough money to attract their signatures. Either way their latest mix tape 'The Greatness EP' is available for free download on their website www.marvellmusic.com- so while you let that download check out their latest visual to 'G.R.E.A.T.N.E.S.S' below.

Now: Bastille
I wrote about Bastille's cover of 'No Scrubs' in our Tube Trip Feature last month which kind of did them a disservice as it didn't mention any of their original material which is pretty damn good. In an age where the charts have no real impact on how we perceive an artist (bring back TOTP!) its hard to keep track on exactly who the movers and shakers of the UK music scene are. However, the Bastille boys made sure to send a clear message when their debut album went straight in at number 1 a week after their single reached number 2 in the UK charts. With a highly melodic electronic tinged sound they seem to have captured the imaginations of the public with single 'Pompeii'. My personal favourite song off the album 'Bad Blood' is forthcoming single 'Laura Palmer' which has a 80's new romantic vibe- check it out below.

Next: AlunaGeorge
By now you should already know who AlunaGeorge are. If you don't then I'm sure you've been drunk somewhere recently grooving to their recent Disclosure collaboration 'White Noise'- one of the sonic highlights of my 2013 so far. The duo consisting of vocalist Aluna Francis and producer George Reid have set the blogosphere on fire with a run of UK garage influenced, perfectly formed pop tunes. Not only do they sound great but they seem to know exactly what they're doing visually as shown in the excellent video to single 'Your Drums, Your Love'. Alunas naive sounding vocals teamed with Georges minimal production style have me excited for the release of their debut album 'Body Music' this summer and I have a feeling that the release could be the soundtrack to the season. Be sure to check out the Baauer (Harlem Shake) remix to their latest single 'Attracting Flies' below:
