I hate following hype; let me repeat, I hate following hype. Whenever there’s a buzz surrounding a musician or group, I use every fibre of my body to resist the temptation to jump on their musical bandwagon; even if my ears are indeed seduced by the sound that has everyone in a daze. It’s the same way I felt towards Odd Future when they burst on to the scene. Well, MNEK… I tried to resist your music; and I'm not ashamed to say that I've succumbed. MNEK is a moniker that I've seen all over the social networking sites; and heard among words exchanged by friends. The 18 year old singer and producer is receiving major buzz right now; and it’s well-deserved. His concoctions of electro soul will have you feeling like you've been taken to some cosmic realm; the way his beats are juxtaposed with booming base notes and a lightness of falsetto highs.
