SALUTE: Pharrell Williams Turning 40
It's hard to put in to words just how much cultural impact Mr Williams has made in his 40 years. From inspiring Louis Vuitton to move into eyewear to giving Disney brats turned superstars some of their signature tunes - Pharrell has always been a cultural catalyst. Seeing as he turned 40 last week, TSG thought it would be nice to take a look back on some of his achievements. Happy Birthday Mr Williams!
Music
4 Grammy Awards- Including Producer of The Year (The Neptunes)
Producer of The Decade at the Billboard RnB Hip Hop Awards (The Neptunes)
4 US Billboard number 1 singles
Fashion
Pairing with Japanese Designer Nigo, Pharrell launched the brands Billionaires Boys Club and Ice Cream. With similarities to Nigos original brand, A Bathing Ape- the boys managed to create pieces that have become must haves amongst Hip Hop royalty. The success even spawned interest from the games biggest hitters over at RocaWear when they partnered up with the brand in 2011.
From trucker hats to the recent grunge revival theres no denying that Pharrell has been there leading the pack over the past 15 years.
Author
In 2012 Pharrell stepped out in to the world of the writer (without melody!) with his literary debut "Places and Spaces I've Been". Less of an autobiography and more of a chronicle of some of his career highlights in both music and fashion; the book sees contributions from the likes of Buzz Aldrin as well as tales of conversations with Kanye West and Jay-Z. And of course it wouldn't be a Pharrell product without looking as stylish as anything a bookcase has ever seen.
