OLD: The Roots - "You Got Me" feat. Erykah Badu & Eve
"You Got Me" is my favourite song from Philly based hip-hop crew; The Roots. Everything about this song I love. This record is taken from The Roots Things Fall Apart album, released in 1999 and features vocals by the sweet sounding Erykah Badu and also features rapper Eve, -then knows as the Eve of Destruction. This song is co-written and originally featured Philadelphia's soultress Jill Scoot, who was subsequently replaced by Erykah due to MCA records wanting a well-known female for the feature; No love lost though, Jill Scott then went on to feature on all the live performances. Enjoy.
