“Apart of my agenda , very clearly, as a feminist and as a filmmaker is to make sure that women’s stories, inspirational stories, are heard and seen.”

This is what Pratibha Parmar had to say, regarding her choice of subject for her documentary, during the Q&A of the film’s screening at the Women of the World Festival which took place at the Southbank Centre recently; and Alice Walker’s life is one story that many of us have wanted to see documented for a very long time.

Beauty In Truth is a feature documentary film which seeks to explore Walker’s journey from childhood, eighth child of Share-croppers in Putnam County, Georgia, to her position as a key writer and activist of the 20th century.
