Modern Eden Gallery Presents "Mona: International Group Exhibition"
The Modern Eden Gallery has an exciting exhibition coming up and if your anywhere near San Fran you have to check this one out. an international group exhibition featuring contemporary adaptations of Da Vinci’s masterpiece, “Mona Lisa”. The Mona Lisa has been acclaimed as "the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about (Jay Z's often references his wife Beyonce as the "modern day Mona Lisa with better features"), the most parodied work of art in the world." In this exhibition, a selection of international contemporary artists are taking on that tradition and re-creating the well-known masterpiece with their own artistic variations. This just shows how much tradition art has really influenced the art world of today.
The Mona Lisa (La Gioconda or La Joconde) is a half-length portrait of a woman by the Italian artist Leonardo Da Vinci. The ambiguity of the subject's expression, which is frequently described as enigmatic, the monumentality of the composition, the subtle modeling of forms and the atmospheric illusionism were novel qualities that have contributed to the continuing fascination and study of the work.
