OLD: Lauryn Hill - "Doo Wop (That Thing)"

Showing off your ass 'cause you're thinking it's a trend Girlfriend, let me break it down for you again You know I only say it 'cause I'm truly genuine Don't be a hardrock when you're really a gem Babygirl, respect is just a minimum Niggas f***ed up and you still defending them Now Lauryn is only human Don't think I haven't been through the same predicament Let it sit inside your head like a million women in Philly, Penn. It's silly when girls sell their soul because it's in Look at where you be in hair weaves like Europeans Fake nails done by Koreans Come again

How about that for your first solo single?

Earlier I posted the Open Letter from Lauryn Hill talking about her return to music; but let's rewind back to 1998 when my love for music was at an all time high. Lauryn Hill released "Doo Wop (That Thing)" which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the tenth song in the chart's history to do so.

Lauryn Hil is what I call a realist, the word sometimes misinterpreted by many; however Lauryn Hill is the type of woman who would tell you when she is having a bad day and not in the mood to converse- that to me is a realist. Sometimes we treat artist as if they are god like beings and untouchable but Ms Hill changed that for me, She came out and spoke about normal issues that we go through daily, forcing the fact that she is a normal woman going through normal thing "Doo Wop" sums that up perfectly. Enjoy.
